In addition to the Applied Mathematics courses, students may take courses outside the department. Traditional fields of mathematical application include all branches of engineering, the physical sciences, biological sciences, computer science, economics and management science, and certain areas of medical science. Other fields may be approved by the Graduate Committee where appropriate. Mathematics and statistics are not fields of application.
